  Dr. Mehryar (Ray) Taban grew up in the Los Angeles area. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from UCLA and medical school at the University of California, Irvine, he moved to the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic for ophthalmology residency, where he was selected as Chief Resident. Dr. Taban then moved back to Los Angeles for a two-year oculofacial cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery fellowship at the prestigious Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. He then pursued further fellowship training in cosmetic facial surgery under Dr. Ronald Strahan in Santa Monica, CA. Dr. Mehryar (Ray) Taban is one of the few board certified surgeons who is a member of the American Society of Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), diplomat of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS), and the American Board of Ophthalmology (AAO or ABO). Dr. Taban specializes in eyelid and facial plastic (cosmetic and reconstructive) surgery. He uses the latest technology in surgery, including minimal incision techniques, to provide quicker recovery times and natural outcomes. Dr. Taban has authored numerous scientific articles and textbook chapters. He has been invited to speak at many national and international meetings. He has also received numerous awards and honors, including the prestigious Alpha Omega Honor (AΩA), the 2009 American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Webster Paper Award, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award. He practices oculoplastic surgery in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and Santa Barbara. Dr. Taban is a course instructor at the annual UCLA Eyelid Aesthetic Rejuvenation Course, held every summer, where physicians/surgeons from around the country came to learn advanced oculoplastic techniques, including various eyelid and orbital plastic surgery techniques. The course includes both cadaver dissection portion and lecture/didactic day.

  Tasha Darrah

  Oculoplastic Surgical Coordinator

  Tasha Darrah is Dr. Taban’s surgical coordinator, she joined Taban M.D in 2015. She works closely with Dr. Taban and his patients to ensure all surgical needs are met. Tasha has been in the medical field over 15 years starting off as a surgical technologist. Prior to working with Dr. Taban she worked as a surgical coordinator/event coordinator for a successful plastic surgeon in San Diego. She loves spending her free time at the beach with her two children.

  Zaira Cruz

  Front Office Manager Beverly Hills

  Zaira Cruz is the face of our Beverly Hills front office. She joined Taban M.D in 2014 and has been a dedicated member of the team. Her friendly and amiable personality provides a comfortable environment for our patients. She helps perform administrative and clinical tasks to keep the office organized and running smoothly. Zaira loves to spend time with her husband and two boys.

  Office Manager

  Peggy Wilson is the face of our Santa Barbara front office. She joined Dr. Taban in 2011 and contributes poise and compassion while helping patients schedule appointments. She is a mother and grandmother.

  Savitha Pillai

  Office Assistant Beverly Hills

  Savitha Pillai is our newest member of Taban MD family. She joined us beginning of 2018 as front and back office assistant. She has quickly become an important team member and has a hand in almost every aspect of the practice.

  Diana Sanchez

  Oculoplastic Surgical Technologist

  Diana Sanchez is our surgical technologist. She joined our practice in 2016 and has been working hard ever since. She assists Dr. Taban in all of his oculoplastic procedures in our operating room. She brings a calm and ease to all of our patients during an anxious time.
